I was just looking through old notes I made and came across this useful piece of motivational advice, unfortunately I can’t remember where I got it from so appologies to the source!

SD x V x FS x SS > R

Do you have a burning disatification to your current situation or perhaps a realisation that the current situation is not working? Has that disatisfaction created within you a new vision or picture of the way it should be?

When I consider vision, and many visionaries have some really great ideas yet so many of these really great ideas never actually get of the ground!

In our equation we see that (SD) Sufficient Disatisfaction multiplied by vision will indeed lead to (FS) First steps.

yet so often the formula ends up looking more like this:

SD x V x FS < R

R standing for Resistance and the reason many visions fail is because the resistance is greater than all the good ideas, the need and the vision even with the first steps!

So what is the key? It has to be in the SS, that is the Support Systems and then as in the original formula the resistance is not greater because with good support around your vision you will overcome!

Write down your vision today, what are the initial needs of why and what you’re hoping to acheive!
Ask youself what support systems do I need in place to overcome the obstacles that will resist the vision from becoming a reality.
Make a plan to put good support system in place.

All over europe God is preparing youth to rise up and take their purpose and destiny in Christ. Are we not doing a dis-service to our young people and children in our care if we are not encouraging them to enter in fully the things of God!

Today, there is a call to see Discipling young people is at the heart of Christian youth ministry. Here is a disciple’s convenient recently discussed at european youth leaders summit. Consider and make comment.

A Discipler’s Covenant….

“One generation will tell another….”

Our Mandate

To see European young people encounter deep transformation that leads to wholeheartedly following of Jesus and a commitment to mission and disciple making.

Our Contribution

As disciple making communities we covenant to;

Being intentional in whole life discipleship

Keeping Scripture and prayer central in relationships

Championing personal ownership and progress

Staying missional focused

Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me” John 14:6

As I read this I think about what it means to follow Jesus. These words where written to a ‘doubting’ Thomas who asked before this ‘Lord we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way’ John 14:5… What I find interesting is that here is a disciple…Just like me and you… that walks with Jesus but gets confused…even lost at times as he tries to understand and follow.

What is encouraging to know and read that Jesus tells Him ‘I am….’ not  ‘Well here is the list of do’s and don’t’ … It was a call to trust…Jesus spoke a little later in John 6:29 that ‘the work of God is to believe in the one He has sent’… It is God’s desire that we believe not just in the words of Jesus but to believe in Him… Him as the Way, Him as the Truth and Him as the Life….

My desire, and I pray that for you too, that we come to begin to see Jesus in this real and living way, truth and life within our very hearts!

My favourite scripture these last few months has been… “Christ in you the hope of all Glory” Col 1:27

It is our Father’s desire that we would be made complete in His Son and it is to His glory…HIS GLORY… as we allow Christ become our all in all!

Lets us live in the Hope He calls us to!!

Have a blesssed day!!

Main Characters:

Ana Sophia Robb, as Bethany Hamilton
Dennis Quaid & Helen Hunt as her parents

About the film:

As a gifted child surfer in Hawaii, Bethany spent more time wet than she did dry. In fact, her mother was fairly convinced her daughter was a mermaid. To Bethany, pure joy meant catching a perfect wave and calling her ocean home. And she didn’t want to leave it even after tragedy ordered her to stay ashore.

It was 2003 when, at the age of 13, real-life Bethany lost her left arm in a tiger shark attack. Soul Surfer tries to tell the story of her courageous, indefatigable fight to return to competitive-level surfing. It also serves as a testament to the spiritual, emotional and physical restoration she attributes to “God’s healing touch.” Source: Plugged in Online

Element of suspense and the build up to the shark attack, well will probably make you jump!

All through the film Bethany faces head on the struggles of how her life has drastically changed. The big question this film tackles very well is that of, How can a loving God let this bad thing happen – Bethany’s plans of being a professional surfer seem to be dashed!

Watch out for the turning point in the film which turns around Bethany’s attitude of, “I can’t do this” to a big Yes and with determination, faith and the help of her parents and friends she does!

It’ a great film to get talking in your youth group, family, school lesson.

Some questions you may like to consider for your group:

  • What aspect of your life do you perhaps take for granted? For example if you couldn’t do it anymore how would that effect you?
  • A key bibles verse in the film is from Jer. 29:11 – To what extent does this film detail how much God’s plan for your life is less dependant on our earthly circumstances (disasters)?
  • How might you show determination to do the things you dream about despite being faced down with circumstances that seem to go against your plans?
  • There are some great Contemporary Music artists out there! I have just had the privalege of attending the annual Christian Music Broadcasters Conference and Disney’s Night of Joy at the Magic Kingdom park which has to be the Christian Music Festival of the year – certainly this side of the atlantic!

More youthworktv news coming soon! We’re also looking for your videos what do you want to show case on youthworktv from your nation?

My town is under attack. These may sound sensational words, but it is. I watched a shop down the road being looted and burned on live TV the other night. It was surreal. London has become the scene for kids and their parents to descend into lawlessness, and as tends to happen with England at least, London leads and then the rest of the country follows what they see on live TV.

The problem with 24 hour news is that it needs to be filled and anyone and everyone with an opinion, however valid, seems to get airtime. This means there have been numerous theories as to why young people decided to riot, loot and burn the city. The genesis but no longer the cause was a police shooting. These are rare in the UK, and rightly provoke a response. In the eary days this was a right response: a peaceful protest. But then it all went wrong! Why?

Some experts put it down to social degradation, and there is a hopeless among many young people. But it then turned out the people being arrested included professionals like graphic designers, unviersity students and evidently affluent people. Some blamed it on the parents, and shockingly there were parents out there with their kids climbing through the windows kids had broken to steal TVs or whatever they could get their hands on. Others said it was just criminality, pure and simple, kids enjoying the thrill and power of theft, destruction, lawlessness.

And the answer is almost certainly:Yes! The kids are committing crime: pure and sinful! The parents have been too selfish and self absorbed to care. And society isn’t any better. We’re busy reaping the whirlwind after decades of sowing the wind and living indulgent, debt ridden lives, and our austerity measures mean this generation is going to lose out. Hard luck and shut up! It’s a mess

Underlying it all is our godless futility and lostness. One of the few shared values we have today in Britain is: What’s right for you is right for you and what’s right for me is right for me. It sounds great, liberating, non judgmental and wonderfully tolerant. But of course that all falls down when someone decides its right for them to burn a shop down and steal a TV. Our cult of individualism: No one tells me what to do.. I owe it to myself to….. I’ve got to look after number one… It’s my life, I’ll do what I like with it…. permeates all society from top to bottom. These riots are just the latest symptoms of a failing society at every level: family, community and nation. They are highly visible, but not isolated incidents. Other symptoms include government expenses corruption, press phone hacking, middle class alcoholism, spurious insurance claims, lying to get credit and mortgages to name but a few.

New Labour anounced a few years ago that this government doesn’t do God! Well we need to. We all do. Young and old, rich and poor, the lot! We need to discover God’s heart for integrity, justice responsibility and love. The good thing about symptoms is that they show up an ailment. It’s time as a nation we went to the Doctor and asked Him to sort us out.

Christian teens among those least likely to attend university
A study has found that Hindu, Sikh and Muslim teenagers are more likely to go to university than their Christian or atheist peers. The figures, produced by the UK National Statistics for the Department of Education, were based on a study of more than 13,000 young people. Of those who describe themselves as Hindu at age 15, 77 per cent went on to higher education, compared to 45 per cent of Christians. The figure was 63 per cent for Sikh teenagers and 53 per cent for Muslims. Just 32 per cent of those who had no religion at 15 undertook higher education.
